Stand on the Moon or Mars

The sky from Mars

Stand on the Martian surface and look up. The Sun is noticeably smaller and dimmer than from Earth. Our own planet shrinks to a pale-blue morning or evening "star," while the familiar constellations wheel overhead, every one of them positioned for the exact date and time you set.

A real planetarium, not a backdrop

Nothing in the surface view is a painted skybox. Constellations, the Milky Way, deep-sky objects, the Sun, Moon and planets are all placed with the astronomy-engine library, built on JPL ephemerides. Change the date, the time or where you're standing and the whole sky responds.

FAQ

What does the sky look like from Mars?

A smaller, dimmer Sun, a distant Earth reduced to a bright "star," and the real constellations, for any date and time.

Can I stand on the Moon?

Yes. You get a first-person lunar sky with Earth overhead, correct for your chosen date and location.

Is the sky accurate?

Yes. Positions use astronomy-engine (JPL ephemerides), so everything appears where it really would.

Is it free?

Yes. In your browser, no account, no download.
