Earth’s shadow covers 96.6% of the full Moon, a deep partial eclipse that barely misses being total. Most of the Moon takes on the dim copper color of a total eclipse while one thin edge stays bright. Unlike a solar eclipse there is no path: everyone on the night side of Earth watches the same shadow at the same moment, and the only question for your city is whether the Moon is up.
A lunar eclipse is completely safe to watch with the naked eye. No glasses, no filters, no equipment. Binoculars make the shadow's edge and the red color easier to see.
